Professional Background

​

Phil Coffin established Coffin & Associates in 1992 with a nationwide recruiting focus in selected pockets of the financial services arena. Before starting Coffin & Associates, Mr. Coffin was a Managing Partner and Co-Founder of Kensington International, which engages in retained executive search and executive outplacement.

Prior to entering the executive search business, Mr. Coffin had an earlier career in leveraged finance and asset based lending. He held positions of Vice President/Midwest Region Marketing Manager with CIT, Vice President/Business Development with a predecessor firm to Bank of America/LaSalle Bank Business Credit and Senior Transactor/Account Officer with Citicorp Leveraged Capital.

Mr. Coffin worked in distribution operations management before attending graduate school full time at UCLA. He worked for American Hospital Supply, a predecessor company which eventually became what is now part of Cardinal Health. He successfully completed the operations management training program in Boston, MA before becoming an Operations Manager for the Mideast U.S. Hospital Supply Division in Columbus, OH.

 

Education/Degrees

 

Mr. Coffin holds a Masters of Business Administration Degree with an emphasis in Finance and Marketing from the UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Management in Los Angeles, CA. While at UCLA, Mr. Coffin was the UCLA Graduate Student Representative on the Chancellor’s Commission on Capital and Space Planning, which included projects related to preparation for the 1984 Olympics which took place in Los Angeles. Planning projects focused on the competition venues, the Olympic Village and training facilities on the UCLA campus.

He also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH. While at Dartmouth, he played NCAA intercollegiate basketball his freshmen year, was the Circulation Manager and Directorate member of The Dartmouth daily college newspaper, studied in France his sophomore year and was a member of Alpha Chi Alpha Fraternity.
